It is in everyone's best interest to do everything possible to keep the 101 corridor safe for all who use it. Not only the residents of La Conchita, but commuters and businesses, city and county governments along with the state of California will benefit if the hill is fixed.

NONE of this would have happened if the problem was corrected properly after the ’95 slide. Ten people would be alive today and there would be no economic loss. IT CAN BE DONE! It’s a WIN-WIN situation for everyone – including the tax payers.

The alternative? It will happen again - whether or not people are living in La Conchita. The 101 will be closed and rail transportation will be halted with multimillion dollar losses to the area.

Remember, the Geologic Hazard Area extends to the ocean. It includes the railroad and the highway. Trains could be derailed, hazardous material spilled and people again caught in mudflows. More people could die.

Governor Schwarzenegger told us he would see to it our community would be made safe.We will be sending a representative to Sacramento to remind him how important it is for him to make good on his promise.

We need your support to get the job done. You can help by spreading the word, writing letters and making a donation to LCCO. We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization so your donation will be tax deductible.

A fund has been established to offset the costs of the LCCO and build a coalition of businesses, the railroad and the government to finance the project. Any donations made to this group will be used for supplies and services. LCCO is a community volunteer organization and its officers are not paid.

Together we can!
